it is right on the strip - next to the Excalibur and opposite the MGM Grand and the top end of the Strip.

Yes it's on the strip, but quit far to the south end. It would take about 30 mins to walk to centre strip when Caesars Palace is.

Monte Carlo would be a better bet, it's as nice as NYNY but closer to centre strip.

Going to the new york new york hotel in July.Can anyone tell me about the poker room here and if they have tournaments????

Poker events are intermittant and you should check their website for when they are scheduled.
We found NYNY very pricy.

Aladdin (Planet Hollywood) have daily poker tourneys, Paris is pretty good for low limit cash games, Imperial Palace have some really good daily $50 or $60 dollar tourneys, very laid back and fairly easy to go a long way. Haven't heard of NYNY being particularly good for poker at all. Excalibur have beginners games and lessons.

I just saw that you and your friends are going to stay at NYNY in L.V. It's a nice hotel at the south of the strip. We have never stayed at that hotel, we have stayed at'Luxor, Monte Carlo,Excalibur and at Mandaly Bay 2 times because we really like it there, the poolarea is amazing.

A friend of my husband has stayed at NYNY and we meet up with them in L.V Sept 2004 so we went up to see their room and also visited the casino at NYNY.

If you got time, take one evening to go up in the Stratosphere Tower, from there you will have a amazing view of the strip and the whole L.V by night!

Its pretty good..Nice enough rooms..layout a bit confusing but no biggie

Better than many of the lesser offerings like Stratosphere and Circus Circus

It is bit further south on strip but not way out

IMHO Treasure Island is much better though for similar money
