For some reason your query has come in twice Davie. Most hotels in Tunisia prefer gentlemen to wear long trousers at dinner and a shirt or t-shirt at all times in the restaurant. If that sounds sexist, perhaps I should add that ladies are not expected to go into the resaurant wearing swimwear either  If you let us know which hotel you will be staying at I'm sure someone will be able to give you more specific advice.

Im staying at Melia Flora Park.

My friend went to Tunisia a few years ago and said he got turned away from the restaurant of his hotel for wearing jeans. Think i will take a pair to be on the safe side.

Thanks

Hi again Davied - to reiterate Aslemma's info. Normally in all Tunisian hotels, shorts, swimwear etc are not considered acceptable in the dining room, although I have never heard of jeans being taboo. Although moderate in many ways, Tunisia is a Muslim country and out of respect, it is as well not to appear away from the pool/beach area displaying too much. Short shorts etc are often seen around and no-one will actually say anything, but they are not appreciated by the locals. Jenny x

We stayed in a 5* hotel and could wear anything except swimwear. my partner tried to walk into the restaurant during the day without a top on and he was told to put it back on.
