I prefer the less English restaurants in the town. My three personal favourites are El Ninos, The Bees Knees and the Ottoman Grill - all of which do delicious breads and kebabs. The guvec (Tuskish casserole) is particularly nice at El Ninos. The mousakka is fantastic at The Bees Knees. The service is fabulous at both. We'd expect to pay around 20ytl each for a meal with a drink. You can get meals cheaper for that though if you look around as all the restaurants display their prices outside. We never bother having starters - all the restaurants will give you bread and butter or a dip as a starter anyway (and will usually top up the bread basket during the meal). Don't be tempted to eat too much of the bread or you won't be able to eat your dinner! We rarely have dessert either, but a cup of Turkish tea is a must!
There is a very wide range of restaurants in Hisaronu ranging from Chinese and Indian, to little kebab stalls to very English restaurants (with roast dinners and full English breakfasts - although I am never really sure why people want to eat food that they can get at home when they are abroad!)
we loved dantes fantastic steak at a great price.
would recommend anyone wanting a little turkey to travelel to fethiye and get off the dolmus before the mosque and try a back street lacanter these have bread in a tub on the table and also a jug of water this is real turkish food and it tastes great and the prices are cheap
well worth a try
The Sunset is superb, great food, huge portions and cheap prices. It also benefits from having a fantastic view as it's on the second floor and has verandas all round.
It was already quite full when we arrived. There were 6 on us (5 adults and a toddler)England football was on at 10 so everyone seemed to be eating at the same time.
They gave us one small round puff of bread, which we did complain about and we were given another one. We sat for ever waiting for our food, and we had to ask for more drinks. When the food arrived. The spagetti bol tasted like washing up liquid. The chicken curry was cold. The meatball stuffed aubergine, was all mashed potato with a smear of meat. The fish and chips for the toddler from the childrens menu, wasn't touched by our normally good eater toddler.
We paid and left a quickly as possible. It was disappointing as it was our last meal as a group.
We enjoyed the Malabu restaurant. Food was great and staff excellent. Good value too
with the same sort of problems
Just got back, 9.00 hr delay at dalaman ( onurair ), we had a couple of good meals at the White Man restaurant in Hisaronu, I do mean good, however I thought it was a bit on the pricey side.
Hi john sorry I missed you out there.
Cheers Kev

You will get a better response if you post in the Tunisia forum.
Santana restaurant is good. It's fairly big and is on the left upstairs as you go down into the main strip from the dolmus evening drop off point. Ask for their set price menu - good choice and 3 courses for about 14 lira is excellent value.
have been reading the forums for a while now - so its about time i said something
i agree what people have said about the suntrap - below average food and sub-standard service - when we approached we asked if they took visa which they replied they did but when we came to pay he denied all knowledge of saying he did - there were only 2 other couples eating and one of them said he said the same - again denied by the waiter
We were made very welcome at the Robin Hood and the food was very good - the bread / or turkish chapatti type thing cooked fresh in front of the you in the open oven
we also ate at the St Nicholas Gardens - again very nice and very reasonable.
the Butterfly could be worth a mention - again reasonable food at reasonable prices
thats our bit for now
Cin Bal by the ghost town is lovely. Pick your own meat and cook it at your table. Thoroughly recommended and excellent value too.
Observations: Captain, the three course set menu at 14.90 ytl was rushed, as soon as we finished one course, then the next was on its way to the table. Pasa Sofrasi three course set menu was nicely moderate portions and served at a sensible pace. Best balloon bread was served at both Yoruk Sofrasi and The Turkish Ivy. Biggest portion and most expensive was Robin Hood. The Turkish Ivy coming in as the cheapest.
Les
