I have copied and pasted this from the French Forum, I think that this is the right place to get my questions answered.
This is my very first post, I hope that this is the right place.
We are planning a journey to Spain in October staying for four months in Benidorm we shall be towing our caravan with a Landrover discovery. We have booked the ferry from Dover to Dunquerke. The following route has been suggested, Dunquerk-Rouen-Le Mans-Bordeaux-Pau -SonPort Tunnel- Llieda-Tarragona-Benidorm. We have never driven in France before.
I have checked various routes using viamichelin and Mappy.com and keep comming up with different routes.
The route above avoids most of the tolls, would it be preferable to use the toll roads.
I would be really greatful to have the advice of people who have actually done this.
We are no hurry and expect this to take a few days.
Is it safe to stop over on the service areas.
Will we be able to find campsites en-route open in October.
Will it be a problem with our twin axle caravan.
Has anyone stayed at the Villasol camping Site in Benidorm or El Raco, I have telephoned both and neither will take advance bookings do you thnk we will get a site. I dread arriving and having nowhere to stay.
I would appreciate any help anyone can give us.
Brenda.

for your route planner, and tick the boxes "avoid road tolls" and "via" if you want to visit a place on the way.
Somebody else will probably reply to rest of your questions.

I see that you have posted in the France forum, but did you know that we also have a dedicated Camping and Caravanning UK and Europe forum ?
Here in the Costa Blanca forum, we also have a Caravan & Campsites in Benidorm & Costa Blanca topic where you may like to enquire about those sites which you have mentioned, in the hope of attracting the attention of caravan enthusiasts who may be subscribed to that topic.

The best way is to follow the route from Dunkerque to St Omer which brings you to the main autoroutes to REIMS/BEAUNNE /LYON/ as soon as you hit Lyon you'll see signs for Barcelona. The autoroute splits for Avignon Marseillle further on, you follow the signs for Barcelona and the first French City when you turn is NIMES/MONTPELLIER/BEZIER/NARBONNE/PERPIGNAN.Then the Border and it's straight down into Spain.I've just bought a new French map from Adli.I've travelled in France and Spain upteen times but always use this route.
