flight with thomsonfly great and on time
proper cars, booked over the internet, great transfer company, there when we arrived and bang on time for our return journey. Would highly recommend.
Dost apts (not hotel) made our holiday, the staff are great, there is home made sunday dinner, followed by bingo, great fun, bbq nights. Apts are basic but very clean, pool small but again clean, poolside bar cheap 4 lira for large bottle of effes. Food is great, chef will cook anything for you.
Location about 15 mins walk to the bottom of bar street, but remember your passing bars and restuarants all of the time.
Now Gumbet, what did i think, i last visited 8 years ago, and a lot of the bars are still there. This year there were 4 ladies, ages 68,65,56,42
I have to say that we didn't venture into bar street, not really my cup of tea.
Meals out, we had a few lovely meals, can't complain on any of the food that we ate.
cost of beer, well people said that the prices had gone up, but i can't compare, but we was paying 4 lira for a large bottle of effes, and 5 for cocktails, which are much cheaper than we pay in tenerife.
In the 9 night there i spent £500 and brought back 28 t-shirts, 2 watches, 6 large bags (very pleased) turkish delight, and we went to bodrum once and bitez 3 times
Would i go back to gumbet, well for me and my friends it is a def NO in a big way from all of us.
And if i had teenager daughters, or friends who had them and asked would they go there again it would be a big NO
What gives the people who work in some of these bars the right, to come over whilst your chatting with your friends, drag you up, no matter how much you protest, and begin to girate infront of you, wearing no top and touching you, no matter how much you protest.
molly malones being the worst of all the ones that we visited. . My friend who is 65, had one young half naked dancer, all over her, kissing her cheeks, no matter how much we protested this went on, so much that we left our drinks and walked out.
walked down the road and saw the sunflower bar, nice small bar in a quiet area. Went in ordered 4 drinks, sat there chatting, then it began again, all of a sudden 2 lads are stood at the end of our table topless, girating to jiggy jiggy songs, and trying to pull us up. Again drinks were left and we walked out.
For us it was back to the dost apts and nice drinks chatting with the lads who work there.
And in the shop it's hassle with the young lads when they see you on your own, it's just like they have a divine right to touch you, so much that when bartering for a bag in gumbet, my friend who is 56 shouted for my help, as the shopkeeper, kept trying to put the bag over her shoulder, and all the time, touching her breast.
So for me gumbet is a massive NO NO and i would never return, i'm just glad that i didn't visit bar street, as i've read the stories in take a break, and being honest i didn't believe them. But i can now and that's without going there.
Loved the thunderstorms on saturday night, sat in a bar with no electric on, watching lightening, and singing with other wet customers were all going on a summer holiday.
Now Bitez, we went there 3 days running in a taxi and it is beautiful. I so wish that we had booked this resort for us.
I've had a fantastic holiday and have come back with happy memories, but it's all down to my friends, the staff and other customers at the dost apts.
Really glad to hear you had a great time with your friends - and thanks for your honest report on the resort too .
Elaine
thanks
