Hi GUys,
My wife and I are planning to go to the DR late May early June. Is the weather okay at this time of year? We are just looking for a beach holiday, not that interested in excursions etc but want a beautiful beach on a not too lively resort. A few that I have seen are Casa Marina Reef ,Wyndham Playa Dorada and LIFESTYLE TROPICAL. Does anyone have any views on these. This is our first time abroad in a bout 5 years. We normally just go camping in the UK but cheesed off with the weather now so gonna hop abroad. We have only ever gone SC so all inclusive is new to us. Looking forward to no cooking etc.
Any thoughts or tips is gratefully received.
Justin.

I think it is the start of the rainy season. We went in June and it did tropical storm for a day or so, but the people who went in May had quite a few days rain or they were recovering from it, can't remember now.
The problem being that when there is a lot of rain it messes up the environment as the mud gets washed down rivers and into swimming pools etc, so they have to clear up again afterwards.
We were fine, the pools were clean, the Caribbean was crystal clear, everywhere was spotless.
Apart from that - the sand on the south coast is softer than that on the east/north and the hotels in Bayahibe have a good reputation. We stayed at the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus, which has a thread running, but just North is the old Sunscape Casa Del Mar, which has now changed its name to something on the Dreams front.
Both have excellent soft sandy beaches, although you would have to check out recent reviews for how they currently perform.

a relative of mine went to casa marina beach in april, they really enjyed it.casa marina reef is the sister hotel and guests use the facillities of both.they enjoyed the a la carte restaurants and the jacuzzies overlooking the sea.the drinks were very strong and at one time they were asking for less alcohol
.i think for the price and quality the casa marina is a good bet. mo.
