Returned fromour 8th cruise and first one on this American cruise line.
We were disappointed with the cruise and have wrote of our concerns and have received a reply offering us $50 pp on board credit on a future cruise. We have already advised them we would not be travelling with them again and as this was our last family holiday (our daughter goes to Uni) we will only be a party of 2 in future.
Our main 2 issues are:
Drinks - One day on deck we purchased some bottled beer and realised that one was out of date June 2008. We took this back to the bar and they said because it was within 100 days it was ok. We said that if we were paying full price for this we wanted a bottle within date. The bar staff then went through the fridge and every bottle of this make was out of date. They then gave me a different make and this too was out of date July 2008. Even worse when we checked another make of beer this was dated 10 April 2008! This makes us wonder what else on the ship was out of date.
Entertainment - I can only describe the overall entertainment as very disappointing. The brochure states ‘every night is opening night, another dazzling stage production fills the multi-tiered main show lounge with big sound, big moves and big talent'. Throughout the 12 days there were only 2 productions, 1 pianist and 2 events that were performed by other cruisers. Entertainment on deck was poor too, there was 1 pool game and the 3 trivia quizzes. I did not class this as a 'fun ship.
Does anyone have any advice how to progress this. The above offer and letter did not even acknowledge the out of date drinks.
Thanks
Just a quick question here. We were in AMerica a few weeks ago and went into a supermarket to buy beer and the dates on them were saying June 2008. After showing myself up, thankfully only to friends though it turns out that the date was the date that the beer 'was born' and not the sell by date. So did it say use by date is my question??
In the States the date is usually when it was "born" (as one well known brand states)
just wondered what ship you were on as I'm interested in what you said about the entertainment provided. Also have you posted a review of your cruise yet ?
I honestly could not say if it said sell by/use by or something else. It was just the date that caught my eye and knowing what it means in the UK I thought it was out of date. Waiters obviously did not know either. If it is the born date how long is it ok to drink?
but beer is fine as long as it is not to long over its use by date
i wouldnt have worried
if anything its a little bit stronger
They also very often have a 'for best taste drink before' date!
Many people often take the beers back thinking they are out of date when they are fine.
Do you have any proof of the dates on the beer? If so you should have a good case for compensation as the only beer available on a cruise should not be out of date!!!
