hi, this will be my first visit to turkey with my three daughters, aged 14,9 and 4. we have visited many other countries and never encountered any real problems but i am a little concerned because a friend who used to work as a holiday rep in turkey, has suggested it's not a good place for a woman to go on her own with children.
some advice would be appreciated in particular from anyone who holidays as a single parent, thanx
This topic pops up now and again and i think there are posts somewhere maybe the mods will merge it for you. As long as you take the same care as you would in the uk then there is no reason why you should be worried . As i have said before a good idea,if possible, is to get friendly with another single parent with kids and go about together .Enjoy your holiday .
I'm not in the same position as you but know the area and I think you will be fine. Turkish restaurants are very child friendly and most people you meet will be charming. As someone said just take sensible precautions and be aware that some Turkish men (certainly not all) are looking for vulnerable European women to exploit. However if you do not give out the wrong signals you will not have a problem. Enjoy your holiday.

I have been to Turkey 3 times as a lone adult with daughters (not Mamaris) and had no trouble whatsoever.
Felt safer and more relaxed there than anywhere.

Thats the one clever clogs

Although I havent been to marmaris, I have been to Turkey twice now as a single parent. Altho we went to Olu, I have to say I have never felt as safe as I do when I am in turkey and neither have I felt uncomfortable. In fact, it has been the most welcoming of places I have found as a single parent, whereas I have been to some countries and may hardly speak to another adult, this was certainly not the case when we were in Turkey and it was better than being at home
I am a single parent with 3 young children aged 7, 3 and 18 months. I travelled to marmaris on my own with all 3 in June/July. We had a great time and never in anyway felt unsafe. Hope you have a lovely holiday.
