I mislaid my handbag in Sousse on Saturday, a few hours before I needed to catch the train to Tunis airport. It contained my passport, ticket, cash, et al!! I'd half packed, wandered down to breakfast etc. had a coffee then went back to my room and couldn't find it. Major panic set in as I envisaged having to go into Tunis to sort out a new passport and everything. In the end someone found it in the snackbar and handed it in - I'd never been so relieved.

on 2 holidays to turkey including the last holiday in aug my hubby has left his hand luggage in a taxi, this contained passports, all his money, flight tickets etc and on both occasions he got it all back , how lucky was that !!! mind you the panic we had both times was horrendous, luckily on the last holiday we had private transfers and i managed to ring the transfer company who then contacted the driver and he brought it back, he had only left 10 mins earlier grrr :duh . the other thing he loses on every holiday is sun glasses ,ive no idea what he does with them !!!

Not quite the same but I had a camera stolen whilst in a bar in Portugal a few years back.
But thanks to some detective work by a couple of our Portuguese friends I got it back. ;)

My camera slipped out of my rucksack when the side zip came undone as I picked it up to get off an Austrian postbus. I noticed within a few minutes and ran back to the bus stop but the bus had already set off back into the mountains. I asked the driver of second bus where it would have gone to and he radioed the first driver to secure it, the first driver then radioed a third to arrange for him to wait a couple of minutes extra at another village so that he could hand it over and get it back to me in one hour instead the five it would have taken if he had hung onto it for his full round trip. It turned up exactly as they said it would.

Isn't it nice when people like those Austrian bus drivers go out of their way to be helpful - it restores one's faith in human nature.

On our school trip to Chicago a couple of weeks back one of my students left her purse in MacDonalds at Navy Pier. She didn't discover it was missing until we were walking back to the hotel about an hour later. I took her back to the pier and asked at the security gate. The purse had been found and handed in but by this time had been locked in the security office safe for the night. We returned next day and retrieved the purse and all of its contents intact! The security people were unable to confirm whether it had been handed in by a member of the public or by an employee of the pier!

My faith is human nature is being improved even more now - what a pity there aren't more people as honest.
