Ideas of where to go

HI!

I am going out to Thailand on 29th Dec for 2 and a bit weeks and its my friends wedding on Koh Samui on the 5th Jan and so we are arriving on the island on the 30th Dec and staying in the resort for the wedding untill the 6th Jan. I then have 10 days to travel with my partner before returning to Bangkok for the last couple of days of the hol.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where to go from Koh Samui - we have never been to Thailand and am so looking forward to experiencing it!

Great time to go- there are a few possibilities.
Hua Hin is just 3 hours drive from Bangkok. You might want to look at Phuket or Krabi too. Are you beach lovers?

You could have more time in Bangkok and do some of the trips below, it's nice to read to get ideas, there are about 50 ideas on where to go in Bangkok.

very much beach lovers - but would love to explore bangkok a little bit more so will have a look at that link.

Well if you have to be in Koh Samui and you love the beach.....

Why not head over to Koh Phangan and Koh Tao for some secluded beaches, diving or snorkelling around reefs.

Hang out in hammocks and eat lovely food...

You could also check out the full moon party on new years eve but I would recommend staying in a quieter part of the island.

Is it quite easy to travel to each island? can you just turn up where boats are and someone will take you across? or do you need to book a day in advance??
