Hi, I've just posted on Altinkum Discussion & Questions about my first trip to Altinkum but wanted to raise something else I noticed when returning back.
When we flew out to Turkey, we had to buy our water/drinks to take on the plane, after checking in and going through to the departure lounge. We assumed it was the same when flying back to the UK from Bodrum Airport.
They were charging 6 lira for a small bottle of water!! I'd bought the same size bottle of water in Altinkum for 0.25 lira. The lady in front of us was charged 22 lira for 2 small bottles of water and a can of coke! Anyway, it was only afterwards that we noticed other people had bought their own drinks with them, 2 litre bottles of water, large bottles of orange juice, coke bottles etc and no one stopped them. I'm not sure if this applies to all Turkish Airports or just Bodrum but I certainly won't be paying rip off prices at Bodrum again.

Hi Josh. Sadly Turkish airports are charging very high prices for food and drink. People are starting to realise this and take food and drink with them. We travel mostly through Dalaman airport and always take a picnic in case of delays. I was accosted by a very enthusiastic waitress during one of my visits this year. She was trying to get me to buy a cake at some ridiculous price, so I gave her my opinion as politely as I could about the prices in general for food. Well her face was a picture and she just said 'Oh I'm sorry'. Any way anyone reading this needs to be aware of the very high prices and make sure they take food and drink. Most hotels will run up a picnic at the fraction of the cost of the airport.
It's also a good idea to take your own food through, especially if you are not having a meal on the plane. A lot places in Gumbet, Bodrum, Altinkum will make you up a packed lunch to take to the airport.

This is so strange and such a bad advertising for turkey.
Its a very friendly and relative cheap country, but due to the enormous airport prices people leave with a wrong picture.....
We are usually all inclusive and always ask the hotel for a packed lunch for airport, order the day before departure, if you are all inclusive this is free, you should get a filled roll, fruit, cake and carton of juice
We usually just take a bottle of water and a couple of simit to get us through while we wait. It is very bad the way they inflate the prices so much at the airport.
Really against the inflated prices at all turkish airports , but i have never understood why they allow you on to the planes with any old size of liquids ,suerly the same must apply there ,in light of what was planned with liquids before .
It doesn't make sense does it...
I believe the liquids ban covers airports at all EU countries. Turkey is free to do what they want.
Turkey is not in the EU so doesn't seem to care if people take water drinks etc through from landside to airside. I guess the security laws are more slack than EU laws. As said above they can do what they like.
The security laws are certainly lax in turkey ,which makes it more of a risk ,you would think that they would bring them in line with the rest of the world .I like the fact that your luggage is scanned as you enter the airports ,but the liquids are still a danger.
We take our own drinks and snacks. I refuse to pay those rip off prices.
The UK will be relaxing the fluid ban with in the next few months everyone thinks the ban is permenate its not
It has already been relaxed ,but it will stay in place to a certain extent for a long time .
