I stayed in a villa in Torba a few years ago. At that time there wasn't much there, a little supermarket, and a few places to eat, but that was it's attraction for us, as we needed peace and quiet for my dad who has dementia. A dolmus will take you into Bodrum easily in several minutes, no problem. A local restaurant sent a driver to pick us up, due to my dad's disability, at the drop of a hat if we wanted to eat locally. We made friends that the family have kept in touch with from those visits, and people in the area were welcoming and friendly (neighbours brought us food round and the restaurant owner came round for a few drinks and to see how dad was). Torba has a lovely mountain backdrop, and has a very relaxed feel to it. It's proximity to Bodrum means that you have a nice short transfer.
Bodrum is lovely in the evening. Lots of restauants on the harbour and the night market is great for shopping with a little hassle.
A couple of photos here which give a flavour of the area
