Well, it's illegal in the marina and in the river. The only place the locals fish is from the pier that runs out from the exit of the river to the sea or the pier at the end of the south beach heading towards Alcudia or from the beach alongside the Alcudia road after you leave town heading to Alcudia. Anywhere else and you may well be collared by El Policia.

to addd to that you are supposed to get a licence for sea fishing as a tourist you may get away with it by pleading ignorance

From what I remember the best place is the pier end unless you can get your hands on a good beachcaster for the beach
