this should be entertaining!!
So if you want to go to a night market, set off early. Allow 2 hours for traffic jams and parking and 3 hours for going through the metal detectors and then being frisked. You won't be able to buy anything because no bags will be allowed in. Sounds like lots of fun!!!
personally I think it is good that they taking security seriously. There have been too many bombs in India recently and they have to think that Goa might be a target. I have been to Bali a few times in the last few years and got used to security there. I think some places are almost impossible to make safe but at least they are making an attempt.
These threats wont stop me going anywhere, as the saying goes, "when your times up" The unfortunate thing is that with the credit crunch, the problems with visas and now these threats, it does look like Goa is not going to have the best of seasons.
chilly
How on earth they think they can install this sort of thing at Anjuna though is beyond me, too many places there to come and go.
as for the markets are the police going to check through every sellers stuff as that would be a much easier way to get a bomb in, think they will have an impossible task on their hands, people either may not bother going or will need to be very vigilant
chilly
ooh sounds serious! Like you Chilly - I'm not looking forward to having the worry of my son working out there for 3/4 months! He's a rep and loves Baga and the nightlife that goes with it!
