WE ate in OUR HOUSE lovely mexican sizzlers and curries, ask for a free bottle of wine and effess before going in
If you walk or get the bus back towards Bodrum you'll go through the Turkish end of Gumbet where you can get excellent, and reasonably priced Turkish food. Also there are 1 or 2 restaurants in the Oasis center that do traditional food. Finally and my 2 favourites are the Kismet, open for lunch only, and the Kircicegi, open 24 hours a day, both of these are in Konacik. If you get to the Oasis, get a bus towards Ortakent and ask the driver to let you off. The Kircicegi is beside a large shell garage, the only shell garage, which makes it easy to find.
Hope this helps and you enjoy!

Thanks..I will be staying at siesta beach so is that the bodrum end
went to salou once and couldn't find a spanish restaurant. some places seem to think us brits only want burgers & chips
thanks kathy
thanks kathy
Siesta Beach is more the Bodrum end but you would have to go out by the main road way to find 01 Adana, or just get a taxi, it would only take 5 minutes.
Well you could say that all the restaurants are Turkish as they're all in Turkey but I know what you mean. Seray Zetas near the Magnific hotel is a good restaurant, as is Adana 01 as mentioned earlier. A lot of the restaurants offer Turkish food on their menus and it's all good. I can recommend Chinatown and Cheers/Mascot as they both have quite a few Turkish dishes on offer and they're really good - Cokertme, Adana (amphora) kebab, my mouth's watering at the thought of the food - it's a good job I'm going back there on Monday so I can have some.
We have a house up near the Universal Hospital in Gumbet and if you look on the big main road, there's quite a few restaurants up there that are away from the tourist part and offer good food.
Siesta Beach is at the Bodrum end of Gumbet - do make the effort to explore the whole of the resort as the atmosphere is different at the other end. Also try discovering the peninsula - it's a lovely place. If you like fish, go to Gumusluk - the fish restaurants there are fantastic.

Thanks for the replies kedi & jackie sounds like loads of great places to eat i'll have to write them all down to take with me , some people have said gumbet is a bit tacky compared to some of the surrouding areas, but i bet there are good and bad parts like everywhere. anyway i'am really looking forword to it, it will be my sons 18
when we're there which restaurant would you suggest.
and have a great holiday jackie i am so jealous

I can recommend Chinatown for your son's 18th and do tell them that he's celebrating. Chinatown is always full and often has a queue waiting for tables at the bar. So many people can't be wrong! They do a fantastic choice of menu - it's hard to choose what to have although my first meal in there is always Turkish meze (delicious) followed by steak garchi (lots of chillies and garlic - yum!).
Or you could always get a taxi into Bitez (about five minutes away) as the restaurants along the sea front are lovely as well.
Yes some would say that Gumbet is tacky but there are lovely parts as well and it's so easy to get around the peninsula that you're never spoilt for choie - you can be as loud or as quiet as you want.

There's some great bars in Gumbet for chilling. We always go into Cheers/Mascot - you can have a good meal there but it's also a bar where you can just go in for a drink. The owner and staff are great - they've become good friends of ours. They play good music (a lot of 70s and 80s stuff) but not too loud that you can't have a conversation.
Bar St - yes I would say mainly for the young although I have been there a couple of times (for short periods only I might add!). I find the drinks more expensive and less strong and the music far too loud to hear yourself think (now I must be getting old).
I'm sure you'll have a great time.
