do it by bus 
buses are not great in Gozo esp outside summer season - I'd recommend bring your hire car over, and have a great time exploring the island

7 of us hired a mini bus complete with driver who spent the day taking us absolutely everywhere. He was spot on and it was on that trip that I really fell in love with Gozo and vowed to return for longer than a day..we enquired at the harbour in Mgarr at the tourist office bit and they sorted us out a good price.
