I have a really urgent problem, my dad and my little girl are in Salo (Cap Salou) and he has tried about 3 cash machines now with both a Nationwide & a Barclays card but it won't let him have anything, I have contacted both banks and they can't help as they need to speak to him and of course he has no credit!!!!! He is upset that all his money is in both banks and he has about 10 euros on him and of course bus fair in and out form Cap Salou is 6 euros. She also has a headache so he has gone in search of a chemist, all of this is worrying me to death, he's upset, she's upset etc.....
I wonder if anyone is there or who lives there can help in any way shape or form. We have been told to look for a Santander bank and you can use Nationwide there or alternatively the lady at the post office said I can get up to £100 to him but I would need the name and address of the post office there..
Can anybody help help me please, I feel so frustrated, I'm willing to pm my phone number and I'll call you straight back if you can help etc... I was goinmg to post mine here as I am so desperate to help them but I realise the post will be removed if I do.

Hi Jo .. I don't have any personal knowledge of Salou, but a search is showing the post office address as Calle de Valencia 36, and the Banco de Santander address as Calle Barcelona 25.

There used to be a Barclays Bank on the Front at Salou, I don't know any details but it is just along from the fountains and I have used the AMT, a Barclays sign of that I am sure. Dad seems a bit lost, it should be no trouble to find a Santander Bank or any bank would give him information. Hope he gets sorted.

cant help with banks but i know there are a lot of them in saou, there is a chemist at the start of cap salou on the bend by mickeys bar. hope this helps
just had a thought did he tell the banks before going abroad that he was doing so as they have probably barred his card from international withdrawels.
bus fare into salou just over a euro child free, use hotel phone to call bank then pay bill with the card.

All sorted he went to the Santander and he got the money, I topped his phone up, daughter is all better but now it's raining hey ho!

Delighted to hear that he was eventually able to get some money. You post reminded me that I had read of people being unable to withdraw from certain banks' ATM yet they could from other ones.
I've had a Nationwide FlexAccount card for years and have always been able to get cash and have never paid much attention to the name of the ATM. However my N/W credit card was declined in Vegas this year despite me using it several times a day there no problem. It cost over £50 in phone calls to the N/W only for them to say there was nothing wrong with the card, it hadn't been blocked and that the problem must have been with the outlet. Right enough it worked next time I tried it. Will rememember to do that in future rather than get stressed and run up huge phone bills.
