probably that the prices are good. However, I have to say that I didnt find it so good the last time we were there. There were several things actually dearer in Thailand than in the UK. I like the Jim Thomsons shops ( and a visit to his house is a must)
The first time we went we got some great bargains at Patpong but nowadays even the fakes can be dear. I do always manage to find shoes or bags though( not from the market)
Take a trip to the weekend market at Chatachuk- it is fascinating. We got lost the last time and spent ages trying to find our way out :rofl

We visited Chatuchak market in July, spent 4 hours there and came back loaded with shopping, this is the largest market in the world and even has it's own map , you could easily spend a full day there.
I bought my sister a beautiful necklace , it is made of little white stones , very pretty, it cost the grand sum of 120 baht !!

When we went 4 years ago I took about £1000 and came back with more then half. That was 2 of us and included trips and eating out xx

In regards to the link and shoe buying... the sizes Cathy was referring to are Australian shoe sizes. A size 9 would be around a British 6.

Hi Geri, your right they are Aussie sizes so if your feet are bigger you will not find much. I just had boots made in Phuket as I was determined to come home with a nice pair of shoes lol. Was going to post a link to my Picasa site as theres lots of new shopping photos with prices that are not on my website but I dont have enough posts yet to leave links. So if you go to my website on the Phuket intro page theres a link to my recent Picasa shopping photos.
Cheers Cathy

Chester - is that the market in North Pattaya? Last time I was there (about 6 years ago) I bought a watch and it's still going today ( a few batteries later!). Can't remember how much I paid but I know it was ridicously cheap. I will be back in Thailand again in Feb after 3 years, can't wait.

yes I would say it could be the same one.
head out of pattaya over the dolphin roundabout and keep going if you walking its 10 to 15 mins walk if your in a bhat bus jump off when you have gone under the footbridge.
There is a much larger market a bit further up on a Saturday or Sunday but this one is on most days and was very very good.
