Check out the Bitacora hotel, or its sister vulcano. Website is http://www.springhoteles.com sometimes you can get good deals there off peak. its more las americas than cristianos but its a lovely area in town very upmarket and family focussed. We stay there a lot. Other than this, Bouganville Playa is an iberostar hotel but nearer to costa adeje, my personal favourite end of town would be bitacora enbd, both hotels are excellent standard

forgot to say there that bitacora is about 5 min walk to mare nostrum area. there are a few other hotels around that area... let me know if you want any more info hope that helps.. the only thing is both are hotels not apartments but both do excellent b and b or half board. Sometimes half board is nearly as good price wise as b and b and you can avail of it a few nights if you prefer going out.

Thanks for the info Sun Worshipper. Yes, the Bitacora was high up on my list but I found it quite expensive for end of Jan beginning of Feb. I know it gets good reports and would have gone there if there had been some good value prices for it but I did not come across any, it is after all only a 3* property. I have actually booked now but have had to go a bit out of the area by going to the Paradise Park in Los Cristianos. I know it gets mixed reports but I have gone for a suite so I am hoping that turns out okay.
