You could try contacting the hotel to see what the Taxi charges should be.
The people on the door knew most of the journey prices in their heads and arranged them too!

If you know what the hotel say the price should be, you can tell if the TO is overcharging.
Our transfers were included so although we had our own 12 seater Taxi, I am not sure of any prices.

We paid $80 from Playa del Carmen to Cancun. That was for 4 adults and luggage. I believe 2 adults and luggage was 50$. Just asked at taxi rank although hotel said they were all the same price wherever they were booked.
