Hi,
I'll probably become a pest over the next few months looking for advise!
First query: I have found a decent deal tothe Gran Principe in Riviera Maya, the coach transfers were included but no option of paying for taxi transfers, I have heard the coach takes 2 hours, which after a 10 hour flight will be a nightmare. Anyone have any experience of pre booking a taxi with a reliable and reputable firm?
Thanks in advance
Emma
We used Lomas Travel for our transfers to El Dorado Seaside Suites back in Aug 12, and Cancun Transfers in Aug 13 when we stayed at Secrets Maroma Beach. Booked a SUV for bot transfers and was very happy with both companies and would use them again.
Not sure what company you have booked through, but our son and his girlfriend stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe back in June 13. He booked through Thomson who arranged private transfers for them (they use Jumbo Transfers) Transfers were via a 12 seater van which they said was adequate and their transfer took approx 1hr 15min.
We are going to the Dom Rep in June with Caribbean Warehouse and they have arranged private transfers for us via Jumbo Transfers.
If you type in airport transfers into the search engine on TA there is loads of posts on there.
Regards,
Pat
hi Emma and welcome to HT!
canadatransfers.com (Add the usual http on the front, I can't post links yet)
We are also heading for the Gran Bahia Principe (Tulum section).
$117 USD - which came to £72.42 - that is total amount for 1-3 people
Again, lots of good reviews, but came out a bit cheaper than usa-transfers.
Have you found the Bahia Lovers Facebook group yet? Lots of good information there.

Another vote for USA Transfers here We used them in October for our trip & had great service from both drivers, another plus was they allowed a stop at Walmart, so we could buy a few supplies like eco-friendly sunscreen etc. We'll be using them again this October for a second time.

For those who might go to Cancun in the future it is worth mentioning that the hotel zone is actually an island some 20 kilometres / 17 miles long. Local taxis are expensive and may take advantage, not to mention that their vehicles are neither modern or well maintained, but because they belong to a sydicate (union) they can get away with things that private transfer companies cannot, hence that private transfer companies offer better vehicles, better service, and reasonable prices.
Try the Chevrolet Suburban, prices are per vehicle, not per person and are not shared, so just you and your family or group up to 6 persons can travel in style to your hotel or to the airport.
Local taxis are ok for getting around downtown Cancun but do check what the actual prices are (or should be) by asking your hotel or info service.
