We have a loverly white cat called polly who visits us in Candolim. She must be the best fed cat down the beach road, she does the rounds and collects a tit bit at all the shacks, she has the clip out of her ear (neutered) but the tom's still come around occasionally. :omg
Its great fun watching the tom cats stalking the mongoose who lets them get within a couple of feet before turning and chasing them off.

I live in a 1st floor apartment and my cat "Ronnie" (did have a "reggie" aswell till a snake bit him,) brings me presents all the time anything from cockroaches, to dragonflies, little frogs, voles and baby rats bless him and sometimes he invites his pals in aswell, i draw the line with that one.
I am surprised there are not more cats around as they do as someone else wrote keep the vermin down.

This thread made me more aware of cats on my visit to Goa over Christmas and New Year. I have previously replied that I didn't think there were that many, but I was surprised at how many I did see when I started to look for them. But this was generally from the taxi as we passed through residential areas and I certainly didn't see any at all around the hotel and restaurants we visited.

We commented that we saw more cats around than usual on our recent 3 week visit. Have not usually seen many before, they all looked quite well fed as well, probably all the vermin they eat.

Just returned from two weeks in Candolim, i would estimate that we saw about 10 cats in all, there was ginger one that used to sunbathe in the grounds of the hotel, another made itself comfortable under our table at a restaurant.

The rest we just spotted as we wandered around.

We where sat in a shack on mandrem beach and my friend looked above my head into the rafters and saw what he claimed to be the biggest rat he had ever seen in his life :yikes . He did not tell anyone at the time but he steered the conversation around so that we all decided to move up the coast and eat elsewhere.

Most mornings between 7.00 - 8.30am a huge mongoose with a big bushy tail could be spotted sneaking about in the undergrowth beneath our room.
