Is there anyone out in Fuengirola at the moment who can advise about the prices. I am due to go to Los Boliches area at the beginning of February and with the pound only being worth about 1 Euro, I think this is gonna be an expensive short break
Stewart
Bus fares have gone to 1 euro coffee 1 euro the pound is now 97 cents and it is raining. Bring plenty of money, if you like the night life.
Euro now gone up to 1.02
Hope it changes when I go in august, I am booking my holiday with thomas cook on 23/01/09 to the las palemras again, half board cheapest deal at the moment..
There is so much competition in Fuengirola I am sure the British bars will need to take action to keep their prices competitive this summer.
euro now 1.09, hopefully going to get better. we go in april and i have my £'s ready to change but dont know when to do it. i feel like a stockbroker but with only £500 instead of millions! hope i do better than they have been recently!
Saw 1.02 euro to GBP yesterday in Fuengirola. Things are looking expensive. Over 2 quid for a sliced loaf.
(bogof, pie and chips 3.50 instead of 7 etc but thats what the board says)
if there are any brit bars left, the prices will be cheaper than last year for all you grockles
£2 for a sliced loaf is true if you want English (imported) bread. However you can get decent sliced loaves for well under 1€ in most of the Spanish supermarkets. If you want Uk food then you will have to pay a premium for it, but there's usually a good Spanish equivalent.
try Pan de Molde, about 88 cents in the big supermercados. It isn`t as sweet as most Spanish sliced bread. It is the nearest thing in taste to British bread.
or you could ask your friendly brit bar owner to get you one,1.20 a loaf, failing that if you see a freskisol van get it off them, they do whole meal as well, johnsons bread
I shop in Mercadona or Alcampo and I haven't seen any bread as cheap as 88cents. I can buy nice baguettes for 75 cents but they are small and only last one meal. Mercadona sliced is about 1.20 but small. A kingsmill is 2.20 and lasts about 3 days. BTW Kingsmill is only British style it is baked by Pampati but it doesn't have that cloying sweetness of Spanish bread.
The 88 cent loaf is smaller than the Kingsmill etc.
Out there last week, and saw the Prickly Pear at Fuengirola Port offer free drinks with all food served. I have never seen Fish Alley so quiet. A week last Sunday night, when we walked from the Aroma to Adrian's Cafe, we never saw one person eating out. I estimate those we could see eating in numbered about a dozen. Extraordinary!
So how much is a pint of lager then? Where's the cheapest?
The cheapest I saw in Fuengirola was 1.50e a pint, a few bars down from the Versalles Buffet. Might be a few more in the port. In Benalmadena (where I was staying at the time) Fagin's and Sinatra's were 50 cents cheaper than that. A few bars in Montemar were one euro, too.
Thanks for replying...Are any of these near los Boliches, Ronda IV hotel?
I walked past Ronda IV just a few days ago, and remember seeing a few bars near there selling beer at 1.50e a pint. Maybe Cheers and Sticky Fingers? Search around when you arrive - they are out there!
Can't help with the cheap beer places, only UK bar I go in is the Old London for the footy on a Saturday and that's closed until Valentines Day.
1.50 in scots and irish, never thought i would see that, when i had my bar (sold 3 years go)i was the cheapest on seafront at 2 euros a pint as i got 10 free barrels off san miguel and kept the price as it worked
fish alley is bad,i think a lot of the places cant even afford to put their toldos back up after the refurb
