Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Would like a nice beach, nice places to eat, (would be going self catering, as we like to try different foods). Like to visit different places and see things, not ones for sitting on the beach all day, (hubby gets bored).

Icmeler certainly ticks all your boxes, 100s of fantastic places to eat out at prices that dont cost an arm and a leg, Loads of trips to go on, All inclusive Boatrip, Jeep safari, Horse Safari, Rhodes in Greece is only a 50 minute ferry trip from Marmaris, Dalyan mudbaths, Quad bike safari, Turkish baths, Diving, Turkish night, Talk of the town, Pamukkale, Epheus, Rafting, Cleopatra Island, Gokova, Day trips, And they are all reasonably priced also, Note Icmeler beach is more on the shingle side as opposed to being sandy note its perfectly safe to walk on it barefoot, You wont be bored with Icmeler well I certainly havent been as I have been 20 times in 6 years, Above everything else Icmeler makes you feel welcome and this will be shown to you should you venture to this fantastic Tourist resort.

Somewhere like Bitez, near Bodrum may suit you. It is a nice resort set along the beach with lots of lovely restaurants and a couple of bars plus loads of really nice sc apartments. It is very close to Gumbet, which is much busier with lots of bars and restaurants so you could go in for an evening and it is also very eay to get to Bodrum, where there are again lots of bars and restaurants and great shopping.

There are lots of trips you can do from Bitez - boat trips, jeep safaris, village tours, Turkish nights, trip to the Greek island of Kos, day trips to Ephesus or Pamukale etc and you can also explore the Bodrum peninsular by dolmus (minibus), there are lots of great resorts to visit - Turgutreis, Yalikavak, Gumusluk, Torba, Ortakent, Turkbuku are just some.

I would agree with Kedi, that the Bodrum Peninsula is a great place to go. It has so much variation, to suit all ages. The bus service is excellent from resort to resort so your teenagers could quite easily go off on their own if they wish.
The northern side eg Yalikavak, Gundogan might be best for you if you don't like it too noisy. They're not so commercialised. But do look very carefully at the location of your accommodation. Much of it is well out of the village centres up on the hillsides, so nowhere is within walking distance.

Many thanks for all the replies. Will do some research before i book anything.

One further point here to consider is that Icmeler is by far the Cheapest tourist resort I found that everything in the Bodrum peninsula was at least a third of the price more expensive than Icmeler, If you are on a budget then Icmeler will save you a lot of money during your holiday.

:tup :tup :tup Agree's with Kedi on Bitez...it is our second home.

I have tried Gumbet, and its a lot more expensive for trips, yes about a third more than Icmeler and Marmaris.Icmeler has some lovely restaurants, friendlier people and a much prettier resort.

I think as Maverick says you do need to have a read up on various resorts too because everyone here has their own favourite place, for example I love Bodrum but didn't like Marmaris whereas others love it but maybe wouldn't enjoy Bodrum, it's all a matter of personal choice. Whichever resort you chose though you will find very friendly Turkish people.

i have to agree with rob , we were in turgutreis last year and visited bitez and this area is a lot more expensive to eat out, even the hairdressers were a lot dearer than i pay at home, so if youre on a budget icmeler is cheaper
Reply
Perhaps if you're on a budget, don't go to the hairdressers :-)

Bed & Breakfast is cheaper than Self Catering, you still get the opportunity to sample the local cuisine, as for resorts then Icmeler, Kusadasi, Altinkum and Olu Deniz would probably be best suited for you. All the best.

Hi jcarey2536, We have booked a private 3 bed apartment in the old village near the Babadan Apts. Thanks for the tip on snacks for airport, we normally make sandwiches up and get crisps etc. Will be booking some trips up. Is it better to do this in the resort or before we go?
Reply
Better off booking in resort, but dont do it with the reps, its more expensive. You will see plenty of people selling the trips at nearly every corner and along the beach.
