Beaches.

Hi, could someone tell me where that fresh water lake is? Im sure mardon said it was at one of the north beaches, maybe near Mandrem beach?

Also, i am getting a bit fed up of BCC beach stretch, the sea seems VERY rough

Can anyone recommend a nice beach which isnt as rough. Something like where cliffs shack is, sheltered from the main Baga/calangute water, but obviously is still baga beach.
I dont know how to explain it very well

Also, has to be in North Goa.

Where is the butterfly beach?

The fresh water lake is at Arambol (far north). When you get to the main beach look left. You will sea the cliffs and the headland. Walk round the cliffs. There is a proper path and stalls as you walk round. It does take 5-10mins so keep going. You will come out on a nice beach with a couple of shacks and the lake. I'll post some photo's.

Palolem is quite a calm beach.

Mandrem and Ashvem (spl??) is a very long stretch and didn't seem as rough when I went.

Sorry Nicola but Butterfly beach is near Palolem, in the south, and can only be accessed by boat -

Bogmalo beach is very nice, small bay with clearer water than BCC stretch. Bogmalo is close to the airport so there is some aircraft noise but all the same it's worth a try.

Nicola, when we want to get away from candolim etc we usually get a taxi to Ashwem or Mandrem or Morjim beaches.
Nice and quiet and the sea is calmer and shallower for getting in and out,(especially for small people) taxi is usually around £10 for both ways including waiting all day for you.

GFF- is this down South? is it me or do beaches in the South seem nicer?

Del - we did this many years ago, in the mid 90's. There were only a couple of shacks in the space of more than a mile, but i checked you-tube today and it seems theres lots of shacks and sunbeds on Manderim beach :yikes

, not as bad as Baga/Calangute though.

Hi YM,
Bogmalo is right next to the airport. If you go into images on your browser and type in bogmalo beach you should find some nice pics - attached a link to one that I found.
