I've cruised the Caribbean in both late Sept and late Oct- both with Royal Caribbean,on Enchantment and Majesty of the Seas,and had wonderful cruises both times. The worst of hurricane season seems to always hit right at the end of August/ early Sept so it didn't worry me to go at those times..
The best thing about a cruise is you will be taken well out of the way of bad storms in the region..
We also sailed on Freedom of the Seas but we went on her in June- we have taken numerous cruises in the official Hurricane Season. If you are taking your teens at this time bear in mind that most teens will be in school so it might not be too lively, although I had an 18yr old with me on the Oct cruise and he managed to have a great time, just not as busy as his usual summer holiday..

Thanks for the reply and glad you enjoyed your cruises, we are thinking of the Western Cruise from Port Canaveral as this is closer to Orlando. Our son will be sixteen when we travel and our daughter will be 21 and I'm sure both would enjoy the activities on board this cruise ship.

Yes, there is SO much to do onboard this ship- it's a floating resort- ice skating,sports deck, the Flowrider, pools, all kinds of entertainment etc-it's fabulous. We enjoyed the Western Caribbean (except for Ocho Rios) the other resorts on your itinerary are all very nice with lots of excursion choices- the best of all was at Cozumel, the Royal Swim with Dolphins at Chankanaab park- a wonderful day. Eastern Caribbean itinerary is our favorite though, lots of beach/shopping days.
If you've never been to the Caribbean before you have a lot to look forward to, the beaches are fantastic and the sea is a deep turquoise, it is lovely.
