Hi. The sand dunes are just outside the resort of Corralejo . Transfer time from airport about 45 mins. There are 152 beaches on the island. On most you will see nudists. The best beaches are in the south. Our favourite is Sotavento,it goes on for miles & miles. Do hire a car to explore.

Because you dont drive , need not be a problem. Taxis are cheap to get to the Correlejo dunes etc.. Organised excursions are a good way of seeing the island. Book in resort though, not through travel rep.if going on a package.

There are buses that go to the sand dunes from Correlejo. Its only about a 10minute ride.
I walked there and passed lots of hotels and apartments on the way so depending on where you are staying you may be able to walk there.
If you have Google earth you can see how near to the resort the sand dunes are.

we stayed in an apartment that gave free bus trips to the dunes all through the day and return, about 10 minutes top on the free uncrowed bus, love the beaches there

our ideal resort would be not too far a transfer a superb beach, not too much hustle and bustle, quiet but with shops restrurants ect

The closest resort to the airport is Caleta (known as Costa Caleta or Caleta de Fuste), a lovely resort, great for families, no rowdy clubs but unfortunately not the best beach :-? (man-made with imported sand.)
The best beaches are probably in the south, Jandia, Costa Calma etc. The south, however, is quite a long transfer from the airport.
The famous dunes are just outside Corralejo in the north, although there are only a couple of (expensive) RIU hotels actually in the area of the dunes. Corralejo town is quite busy in high season and is also a long-ish airport transfer.

When we have stayed in Corralejo TOWN we either book a taxis from UK web site, or book hire car for airport pickup. In either case from Airport to Corralejo is about 45mins.
