Hi... I'm currently looking at booking a 2 week break in gambia in Jan 2010,,, I am a single mum and will be taking my 2 boys with me who will be 16 and 14 at the time of travel..we are thinking of staying at the senegambia beach hotel...
I have never been to gambia and would like some feed back/advice on whether it is suitable...
I have read the reviews on the hotel which are pleasing,, just need to know if we will be ok and entertained my other option is Goa...
please help !!
It is very safe to take children to the Gambia and they will love the Senegambia Hotel, especially the pool. Just google Trip Advisor Gambia Forum there is lots of information on there about familes who go back each year.
Hi stayed in the holiday beach hotel 08 which is next door to the senegambia hotel. My wife and i traveled all over The gambia and found it to be one of the safes places weve been to other than croatia. The hotel has the normal entertainment also the african dance troupe. You also can watch the daily event of the wild vultures being feed (11.30) Plus the vist of the monkeys passing throu gh the ground, some times twice a day.Book your trip of the guys outside your hotel not the reps.their are a couple of atms on the main strip just outside your hotel.Avoid buying drinks water or beer at the hotel stick to the strip.A day out i can recommend is fishing down the creeks, you will also see the woemen in the dugout canoes collecting oysters.Just ask for biram (not sam) at denton brigde boat yard Like most tourist spots just be on your guard, but relax and enjoy
Hi If you are buying water go to one of the local shops and buy the 3/4litre sachets, these are 2/3 dalasi compared to 25-30 dalasi for the litre bottle, they contain exactely the same water ,bottled in the same plant by the same firm and distributed by same drivers, I have used the sachets for 3+ years never even been a little ill, The bottles are targeted at tourists and bars, hope this info useful cheers maxie off in 30 hours YIPPEEEEEEE
