Tangobunny the budget airline flights always seem to go up the later the booking. Early bird catches the worm usually. I think it's because they start selling the seats - get their quota then anything else is a bonus ;)

The budget airlines seem to have about the first 10% of their seats on a particular flight at their lowest rate, and the price goes up the more the flight fills. Couple of years ago I was about to book flights to Majorca when internet disconnected. By the time I got back in (about 2 minutes) the outbound flight was £10 dearer although the return was the same rate. Presumably someone else got in and got 'my' outbound seats in that time, but they obviously weren't planning on returning the same day as me, as the return flight was still the same price.

As for the hotel, that seems a bit strange, but you're right. I've been reading about all these 84p per night holidays in the press, but I did a quick nosy today on the net (it was just nosiness - I've already made our arrangements for this year) and there are perhaps selected holidays from certain airports at certain times that might be cheap, but I didn't see any. It's probably just the usual marketing hype the travel industry put out this time of year. Either they tell us there will be no holidays left if you don't book now,or, wow, do you know we can't sell holidays and we have real bargains, but you'd better get in there today......hmmm, yeah.
