I would say it's a very good idea. Lots to do, and lots to see too.

Take him to the black chicken, great bar under there he will love it .

I liked stevie,bs that was our haunt before a night out one night the patter was so good we ended up staying there all night lol .Will be there again soon 2wks on thursday cant wait

I went with my son when he was 19. We had a fantastic time. We enjoy live music, especially rock so spent a lot of time in Daytona's, afternoons and early evenings, then the Western Saloon later till around 1ish. Then hit the square for the younger scene where I had a few drinks while he danced and chatted girls up. Like i say we had a great time and I would recommend it. We are much closer for the experience too.
