Two aircraft have come down recently with iceing up of the fuel system comeing in to land, one accident in the states and the other in the UK. The aircraft involved were Boeing 777s fitted with Rolls Royce engines. The CAA said there could be more accidents in the next twelve months before the necessary modifications where made to these engines.
Does anyone know which engine is fitted to the 777s and what other aircraft is this engine installed in.
Thinking of self preservation most of my flights now are in Airbuses of different types but would be interested were they are installed.

If the problem was as widespread as suggested, aircraft fitted with these engines - Rolls Royce Trent 875's (only the Boeing 777 is fitted with the varient) would be grounded. There are millions of flights per year with these aircraft / engines. A potential flaw has been identified, but it's not been deemed serious enough to ground them; modifications will be made as and when they are in for routine maintenance. I wouldn't worry. Boeing 777's (all varients) are also powered by Pratt & Whitney (PW407x) and General Electric (GE90's) turbofans. Each have had teething problems and inflight shutdowns but the media hasn't publised these as widely. They aren't used on flight to Spain in any case.
