If the problem was as widespread as suggested, aircraft fitted with these engines - Rolls Royce Trent 875's (only the Boeing 777 is fitted with the varient) would be grounded. There are millions of flights per year with these aircraft / engines. A potential flaw has been identified, but it's not been deemed serious enough to ground them; modifications will be made as and when they are in for routine maintenance. I wouldn't worry. Boeing 777's (all varients) are also powered by Pratt & Whitney (PW407x) and General Electric (GE90's) turbofans. Each have had teething problems and inflight shutdowns but the media hasn't publised these as widely. They aren't used on flight to Spain in any case.
