kenyaforever,

Welcome onboard :tup
They operate the Boeing 757-200 mainly to Hurghada. Please refer to our dedicated Thomas Cook and What Aircraft? threads for further details.

Thanks Dazbo

Oh no - not the 757 - not my first choice for flying over 3 hours on... ah well - hopefully they might put the 767 on the route just for us!

kenyaforever,

The 767's are often leased out through winter, for Hajj operations for example and probably won't be back for flights in Feb, depending on the Hajj dates next year (assuming they'll be leased out again). They got back 2nd / 3rd week Feb this year to resume TCX operations and are used to Sharm mainly, odd ones to Hurghada (eg TCX608K/L has reverted back to a 763 in the last few weeks from a 752).

Thanks Darren - we fly out on the 5th Feb and back 11 nights later - so there might be a chance of the return flight operating as a 767? I'm guessing that it is one of the old MyTravel 767's that we flew to China on...

Cheers

kenyaforever,

There's a slim chance. The aircraft in question are Boeing 767-31K/ER's; G-DAJC and G-TCCA (former G-SJMC) from My Travel / Airtours following the merger.

Kenyaforever,

Wow! We are looking to go back again on the 16th feburary 2010. Hopefully we fly out on the flight your inbound is!

the flight numbers are TCX226K/L and this year it was the B757. It wasnt too bad to be honest for a 5:30 flight!

where abouts are you staying in hurghada? we have recently got back from the sunrise royal makadi resort, and are looking to go there again!

Hi Jamz1107

We are staying at the Sunrise Mamlouk- it has great reviews - first time to Hurghada - apparently the town itself isn't great - we love Luxor and have been there a couple of times, but thought that we would try the coast for a change.

Usually we visit Kenya in February - but thought that we would give Egypt a try at this time of year and go somewhere else Longhaul later in the year.

Really looking forward to the Red Sea - we did look at Makadi Bay, but thought that it might be too quiet - we like it to be quiet, but not too remote. How do you find Hurghada?

Cheers

Ahh we did look at the Mamlouk too! It was a choice of the two really.

Hurghada town isnt great no, although we didnt really venture into the town, we found it to be a bit crowded whilst we were on our coach transfer there. The airport is ok, although it is a bit market like after check-in, it was rather packed whilst we were there also, even the gate area!

Makadi bay was not too quiet no! the hotel had around 1000 guests whilst we were there our rep was telling us, but it was so spread out there didnt seem to be too many there. The hotels though surrounding hurghada though do seem exellent, i hear you are next door to the sunrise garden beach, you can use these resteraunt facilities there too!

Have a great time!
