hi, myself and my fiance thinking of going for a short break to one of these parks, we are 23 and 24 yrs old, looked at a few and these come out the cheapest (well castier came out cheaper but the reviews are not good at all-stating its run down etc) we were goin to go abroad for a short break but we are saving for a deposit for a mortgage so want a cheapy!
so just wondering really if anyone has been to these parks or areas, the golden sands one says its close to skegness, but im not sure how close? and the seashore one is in great yarmouth (golden sands is aprox 3hr 15 min drive and great yarmouths abit further at 4hr 20mins). we really just want somewhere with a beach (hopefully it will be nice enough to go on! if not then for nice strolls at night) things to do onsite and things to do near by if we get fed up or fancy a change from the park-day and night, dont mind driving in the day but preferble walkin distance for bars restraunts at night so i can have a drink!
the golden sands one is closer and slighlty cheaper-not alot about £6 lol so that dosnt really matter (mind you might be abit cheaper on petrol too), but im thinking has it got things close by, like great yarmouths got the pleasure beach etc i assume there would be bars and things too in the town. im not sure whats at linconshire-near to the park.
we are thinking of goin may bank hol-4th may for 4 nights, if anyone can help out that would be great! thanks
Hi I have never stayed at Seashore but do know that it is very close to the beach. It is a good walk along the promenade to reach the bars and restaurants because the park is situated at the quiet end of the resort. We take our dogs to this part of beach during the winter as it is so peaceful.Yarmouth has had a lot of money spent on the seafront, lots of seating, new pavements, huge tv screen, pretty lights etc.If I wanted to take a short break locally I would consider staying there,Norwich is just over 20 miles away,Norfolk broads are even closer. It will be very busy May weekend so if you decide to go there leave your car on site and walk into the resort because parking will be hard to find.We live in Norwich and never visit then because of parking problems.Hope this helps,T.
Seashore has lots to do closeby, though if you want to walk into town it would be a good 20 mins, though there will be plenty of good bars and resturants. A great choice especially bank holiday as there will be plenty going on, if you need any more info just ask.
Haven't been to either camps - but would much rather stay in Great Yarmouth - there's so much to do there, and lots of places nearby to visit.....
There are certainly many options for bars, pubs and restaurants in Yarmouth, most of which are average at best. Along the front you will mainly find bars and clubs, whereas a short walk away from the front will open up a number of more traditional pub options. In saying that I would certainly consider a night out in Norwich one night, a short taxi ride and 40min hop on the train and on arrival some of the best nightlife in the country.
Anyway, I have gone . There is plenty to see and do in and around the Yarmouth area. Some of best restaurants in Norfolk are an easy drive away. I would certainly recommend Chequers in Hainford and the Recruiting Sergant(sp) in Horstead (I think, it's next to Coltishall). You will get better value for money and far better food away from Yarmouth, but that is often true with a lot of cities and towns.
I don't know if you are into Greyhound Racing, but that might be an enjoyable night out Weds, Fridays and Saturdays. The stadium would be walkable from the holiday park but a taxi would make more sense if you want to drink. Alternatively, it's a ten minute drive at most.
Obviously there is plenty more to do including the Norfolk Broads. It's a lovely area of the country and worth the 4hr car journey.
Fire away with any further questions.
thanks for the replies! still thinking about it at the moment, to book would you jyst do it over the net or over the phone? normally go to a travel agent, my mums had her account swiped by fraudsters twice in the past 3-4 months so this is making me wary of booking anything on the net (well i cant use my card on the net anyway it would have to be my partners) or over the phone.
Seashore is a Haven park if I'm not mistaken so I doubt you would have any issues with booking it over the internet. If you are still unsure, just ring them and book it. Aside from a credit card cloning in Hong Kong when we were on our round the world trip, I have never had an unauthorised transaction take place and have total confidence in internet purchases.
We have stayed at Yarmouth for the last few years as there is loads to do for us and the kids even without spending much money
