Hello sutty,
Take a look at cuba excurtions .com . This will give you a guide as to whats on offer and prices etc .All the tours offered by the various companies all seem to be much of a muchness regards price and content.

I have done the day trip to Havana twice and while its a great city etc etc you do get that feeling of being herded around like cattle on these tours. You will get a coach tour of the sites(including a trip to the cemetery to watch the Cubans bury there dead "very tasteful we thought NOT! " then a walking tour ,a lite lunch then maybe an hour at the end of the day to yourself.

There is a bus that leaves Varadero to Havana early in the morning and returns late at night, not used it myself so you would have to do a bit of reserch if you fancy a diy tour to the capitol, this is far cheaper than the organised tours.
Hope this helps J...

Cayo Coco Trips
a) Thomas Cook trips everything from fly to Havana, Dolphin swim, Jeep Tours, fishing Barracuda etc, local speedboats, Salsa Night, local towns. One of the best is Topes De Collantes that includes old Russian Army lorries where you wonder if they will ever get to the top of hills far more basic fun than American Monster Trucks in DR!! :) :) :)
b) There is a local bus that goes up and down the CaYos and a children's road train. :tup
c) We went on a trip 2008 organised by a member of the entertainment staff. It was a fantastioc day out around Moron, farms and many places Thoomas Cook don't go.

Greetings
Cuba has its own money system and USA Sanctions. When we 1st went the $ was king. Now you have to use convertible pesos CUC. BUT do not take any American Credit Cards or AMERICAN Travellers Cheques you can't use them.
Yes that means you have to take cash and Oct 2008 the £ seemed to sink every time we changed. However my advice is to have a CO-OP Credit Card for Cuba and pay Thomas Cook trips with it and private trips with CUC.
