We used the Raymond shop in Margao for a suit and a made to measure shirt for my daughter's wedding and were delighted with them. There are several Raymond off shoots in Margao but the one you need is near Big G and in Isadora Batista road which runs past the Bank of Baroda.Taxi drivers will try to take you somewhere else as Joey will not pay commission so be strong! They do copies of ladies clothes and smart stuff but Joey will send you along the road to a good ladies tailor if he can't do it..frills etc are not their forte.
There is no hard sell and they have a huge choice of fabrics. I oredered several pairs of shorts this morning from them.
Contact us if you need help.

Hi cocopop, thats great we will be in margao alot as my dentist is there, not far from Big G.I dont wear frills so fingers crossed will be fine,Can you give a rough price for a suit and shirts,if its not to much trouble, i also wont some trousers made myself. It was very good of you to take the time to reply as margao would be a perfect place for us to go. Many thanks Gel
Cost depends on the fabric you choose..husbands was £60.00 3 years ago but probably a bit more now and shirts £6.00 or so. If you have trousers you want copied they do a good job I usually take in M & S ones. If your dentist is Gomes, Raymonds is acroos the road to the left.

Hi cocopop yes my dentist is hubert Gomes, the tailor sounds perfect, how much do you pay for trouser, i wont to take a pair and have them copied also.OH usualy has cashmere or wool and cashmere mix, but dont know until he has a look Thanks very much for your help, if your there when we are perhaps we can meet for a drink.Regards Gel
The cost will be a lot less than the original price. I must admit I never ask Joey for a price as it is always good value and well made.

Thankyou that would be great, we're staying in Betalbatim in an apartment for 3 weeks, cant stay any longer as we have 2 dogs and my daughters back to work a couple of days after we come home, would love to stay longer. Also need a good opticans for glasses and contact lenses. Sorry to be asking so many questions. Where are you staying? Many thanks Gel
We are at Fatrade which is south of Varca. We go to Margao a couple of times a week as we love the hustle and bustle. We have the name of an eye man which I will give you later when I find the card. We use Kohinoor for glasses but do not know about contacts.
May be we could meet up in Margao for breakfast one morning as we usually go to a veg place near the dentists!

Well - its not in the south but I can tell you where not to go!!! Don't go to Super Tailors in Candolim. I've been using them for years, used to be Scorpion Tailors, went December and had 2 fantastic dresses made, went in March and it was a total disaster - a 12 year old just starting Needlework lessons could do better, I refused to buy my 2 dresses, far too small and unrecognisable from the photos and my friend had 2 pair of jeans made (she left them with her originals to copy) - disaster, couldn't get them about her thigh. She took in some material and expained how she would like it made into a dress - the finished product only had 1 sleeve! I don't know what's gone over the last 4 months but I was gobsmacked. Other people in the shop also had bad experiences - I could tell you some but have no time.
Hi cocopop breakfast would be great as we will be going into Margao a lot as well as we love it also, thankyou the contact details of the optican would be very much apriecated. Never been as far as Varca but have been told its lovely there.Look forward to hearing from you Gel
