I'm thinking of booking a week in Barbados (Oct half term) with my 12 and 14-year-olds.
At the moment, I'm looking at Almond Beach Village or Almond Casuarina. I know both get very mixed reviews, but I'm willing to take a chance as they seem to be the best hotels that cater for older children. Also, they both fall into the price range that I want to pay, eg, Crystal Cove looks lovely, but it's a bit TOO pricey (it seems to only have rooms for 2 people or for 5 people, so therefore I would have to pay a hefty room supplement!). Also, some hotels charge full adult price for my 12-year-old, but the Almond resorts don't.
Another downside to the Almond Casuarina is that only adults can occupy the ocean view rooms which seems a bit unfair :que. On the other hand, the area seems nicer and more lively than the ABV (I'm so confused!).
Also, I know the beaches on the West are calmer, but I don't mind a few waves that we'd get along the South coast.
I'd be really grateful for any opinions from anyone who has been to either or both. Or should I just toss a coin?!
