Is that for May this year? I would be very suprised if the FCO had lifted the restrictions by then?

Have to day Im gettin a little worried now as Cosmos have now extended thier ban on flights till the 19th May!!!!
How will you stand with being reimbursed if the FCO are still advising against travel when you're due to fly out seeing as you've booked when they are currently advising against ALL non-essential travel?
No wonder you got a bargain!
You need to keep a very close eye on their website but they are currently advising against travel. It's beyond your control I'm afraid. Even if you thought 'Oh I'll risk it' you wouldn't be able to go as the TO won't be operating any flights and you won't be covered by your insurance.

Have just read a thread on another forum, The Grand Riviera Princess is closed!!??? All guests are now all in the Sunset side of the hotel. I dont know if this is fact, but the poster seemed to know, they have been informed by their TO (US). Utterly gutted, we are due here 3rd June. Still, like many others, waiting for TO to make a decision on starting flights back to Mexico. Just when you think it cant get any worse!!
Just to reiterate, it isn't up to the TOs to decide when flights will resume, it's up to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Hi Pip...We actually want to go and as for the 'bargain' it was the only hotel on special...my friend works for Thomson and I queried it with her and she said Thomson run a special around the glode on a weekly basis and it happens to be that hotel this week. All the other hotels when we looked to book were the price ours should of been £1200pp. I have phoned my travel insurance and the same terms apply...if Thomson cancell we entitle to a full refund and if we are allowed to go and we contract swine flu then we are fully covered..I just hope they allow us to travel. Its not looking good at the moment...but it seems to be dying down in Mexcio and as in previous posts around the boards...it is more prevelant in the USA yet travel hasnt been restricted there. I dont see how long the British tourisim industry can survive with this cut of.
We emailed the FO and they said that they only advise not to travel based on the WHO it was the tour operators that actually decided against travel!
Oh great CLOSED will have to read into this more! thanks for the info.
Fingers crossed

No TO will risk taking guests to areas the FCO have advised against travelling to, can you imagine the possible lawsuits if they did and customers became ill or were injured?!
All the time the FCO advise against travel the TOs won't be going there.
Also, your insurance company wouldn't cover you.

On the positive side, if you aren't able to travel this time you may find this whole episode will put some people travelling to Mexico even once deemed 'safe', then you may pick up an even better bargain!
FO has now lifted the ban on travel TC have updated saying they are flying out from 23rd and Thomson are set to follow...so looks like we are gonna be going...
Just to say had a lovely holiday and will be posting review soon x
