As I have mentioned soooo many times before...Cirali !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1.5 hrs from the antalya airport...

Also if you are looking for a holiday resort that has lots of activities then I would not go..Cirali can be very quiet for some..that's what makes it a specail place away from ''package hordes'' and touristy areas..

If you need that however...Kemer is not too far away..less than 30 minutes by car...bars, discos, nightlife, major water sports etc etc..

If you are happy enough as a family and taking lovely long walks, biking, hiking, swimming and all things associated with nature then Cirali is a great place for families..

Cirali ( Çıralı ) is a very lovely and unspoilt area...with Olimpos Roman ruins scattered in a pine forest, a secluded 4km non-touristy beach, fertile fields, and the Chimaera, the world's oldest and best-known natural "eternal flame". Also a natural nesting-ground for carretta carretta (loggerhead turtles).

Cirali tends to draw more families and mature toursits...the hotels and pensions are anywhere from 150m - 750 meters from the beach. All within a 5-10 minute walk.

as seen here with my photos..

Thank you so much for those links ~ the photos and indeed the place looks beautiful ~ although think that it may be a little too quiet for my boy :)
Maybe when he's flown the nest I will be able to explore on my own lol

Icmeler sounds like the perfect kind of place for you and your son.

You can get around easily from there - to Marmaris if you want shopping or a very lively night out or in the other direction to Turunc, if you want to spend some time at a smaller, laid-back resort in a stunning bay.

It is a reasonable size with plenty to do, and is in a beautiful area. There are loads of Icmeler fans on this forum who I'm sure will be able to recommend accommodation that will suit you.

resort wise Karen Icmeler would probably be the obvious choice if you want B+B/self catering . Its a bigger resort than Olu and not quite as scenic IMO but in every other way it would tick your boxes. A good family atmosphere with a brilliant choice for eating out .Many of the restuarants/bars putting on evening entertainment but music goes off at midnight . Beach reasonable but gets busy.

As another option how about looking at Bitez or Dalyan . Not been to either but by the sounds of things both similar size resorts that get good reviews .

I concur what Alfie and Lyn have said and recommend Icmeler. Babadan Apartments through Thomson or you can Book Direct as it has its own website and the owners wife is English. There is a Discussion running on these apartments, last post was on April 3rd.

Karen..how old is your boy ???? I have a 10 yr old and a 14 yr old....and they both enjoy their summers there...they meet lots of new friends from many different countries ...as its a great family atmosphere ..

Also there is still lots to do..what types of things does your son like ??

There is sea kayaking, boat trips, scuba diving ( nearby and easy to organize as it is forbidden to scuba dive in Cirali itself because it is a protected historical area ) biking, a trip to the flames of the chimaera , rock climbing ( but not recommended in the summer months as it is just too hot) ....and of course just chilling... :sun2

Also being close to places like Kemer ( 30 mins ) or the city of Antalya ( 1hr ) or Phaselis ( 20 mins ) gives one something to do outside of Cirali..

Another bonus is you can connect to the village of Olympos ( more bohemian - hippy village ) to check out the treehouses etc...

and thanks I am glad you like my photos :) I love photography...
