As most of the regulars here will know lol I became a turkey convert after going to Olu for the past 2 years. Now I LOVE Olu, so much so that if I could move there I would . . .but while I want to go back again next year, my son is not so keen and wants to go somewhere different. We have always gone to different places each holiday, Turkey and Olu being the only times we have been to the same place twice.
So . . .we would be going in the main school holidays in July/August next year because I LOVED how hot it was . . .and it was just such a nice time to go. WE missed out on the onur air flights being released this year at the cheap rate we got them for this year, but any suggestions on where to go? TURKEY tho of course
We go self catering or bed and breakfast ~ wouldn't really do AI as my son is too fussy and we hate being tied to meal times (eating in Olu this year after 10pm!), we stayed at the Karbel in Olu and it was great to have extra pool and things. my boy isn't into kids clubs so that isn't a necessity, but a family based resort/hotel would be good so he can find kids to play with. So nice pool, good facilities at the hotel/ or apartments and in the town. Wouldnt want a private villa or anything like that as it is only me and him and its nice to be in the company of others at least some part of the day!
One thing my son loves to do is to play mini golf and Olu being the only place which hasn't had one LOL (shame ) but anything that keeps him amused . . .
We do like to be able to wander out in the evenings, go for a drink, go for dinner, wander around a few shops etc, we venture out on a couple of trips but nothing too far, or too adventurous
Like to have a nice beach, but love the beach in Olu so if it is of a similar type thats ok. Sandy would be perfect tho . . .
Up to 1 1/2 hours from the aiport, don't want to be in a place which is in the middle of nowhere, but neither do I want to be in the equivalent of Blackpool in the sun. WE went to Ibiza and Protaras in Cyprus and I didn't particularly like either to be honest so wouldn't want somewhere which was like those places . . .
So . ..any ideas? Places to stay?
Any suggestions, thoughts anything at all would be greatly appreciated
Thanks everyone

Also if you are looking for a holiday resort that has lots of activities then I would not go..Cirali can be very quiet for some..that's what makes it a specail place away from ''package hordes'' and touristy areas..
If you need that however...Kemer is not too far away..less than 30 minutes by car...bars, discos, nightlife, major water sports etc etc..
If you are happy enough as a family and taking lovely long walks, biking, hiking, swimming and all things associated with nature then Cirali is a great place for families..
Cirali ( Çıralı ) is a very lovely and unspoilt area...with Olimpos Roman ruins scattered in a pine forest, a secluded 4km non-touristy beach, fertile fields, and the Chimaera, the world's oldest and best-known natural "eternal flame". Also a natural nesting-ground for carretta carretta (loggerhead turtles).
Cirali tends to draw more families and mature toursits...the hotels and pensions are anywhere from 150m - 750 meters from the beach. All within a 5-10 minute walk.
as seen here with my photos..

Maybe when he's flown the nest I will be able to explore on my own lol
the esra appartments in altinkum sound good for you we stayed ther last year quite near a nice beach and walking distance to bars etc.
You can get around easily from there - to Marmaris if you want shopping or a very lively night out or in the other direction to Turunc, if you want to spend some time at a smaller, laid-back resort in a stunning bay.
It is a reasonable size with plenty to do, and is in a beautiful area. There are loads of Icmeler fans on this forum who I'm sure will be able to recommend accommodation that will suit you.
As another option how about looking at Bitez or Dalyan . Not been to either but by the sounds of things both similar size resorts that get good reviews .
lyn
I concur what Alfie and Lyn have said and recommend Icmeler. Babadan Apartments through Thomson or you can Book Direct as it has its own website and the owners wife is English. There is a Discussion running on these apartments, last post was on April 3rd.
Also there is still lots to do..what types of things does your son like ??
There is sea kayaking, boat trips, scuba diving ( nearby and easy to organize as it is forbidden to scuba dive in Cirali itself because it is a protected historical area ) biking, a trip to the flames of the chimaera , rock climbing ( but not recommended in the summer months as it is just too hot) ....and of course just chilling...
Also being close to places like Kemer ( 30 mins ) or the city of Antalya ( 1hr ) or Phaselis ( 20 mins ) gives one something to do outside of Cirali..
Another bonus is you can connect to the village of Olympos ( more bohemian - hippy village ) to check out the treehouses etc...
and thanks I am glad you like my photos I love photography...
