Ooo not sure but I know we went across last year and brought back our 1600 quota no problems. :que There's no 'border' as such between the two.

It's possible that there is a special limit for people who live in the border area but I don't think the Portuguese authorties would be too bothered by any in transit to the UK. And as Glynis says, since both countries have signed the Schengen Agreement there is no border control as such.

There have been mutterings about 'white van men' being stopped by the Portuguese police much in the same way as UK customs might inspect vans coming back from Belgium. I saw a roadblock myself just outside Faro the other day and it was only white vans being pulled over.

I would imagine if you had 10,000 in the back words would be had.
