Hi - the locals do like the women and will tell you what a lucky man you are but very much doubt your girlfriend will get groped and if she does report it straight away to the tourist police.

In Naama the popular bars are Camel bar and The Tavern. There is also one called Montys and a new one opening by the taxi rank that has a roof terrace. Another is Brendas bar along the main road. Ghazala beach bar is on the prom in Naama and does buy one get one free drinks in the eves and also near here is Pirates bar - part of Hilton Fayrouz.

There are loads of shisha bars where you can get a smoke and some serve alcohol but be aware some dont have menus so ask the prices 1st.

Have a great time.

Hi you're welcome - my advise would be not to change your money until you get there as you will get about 10% more as the exchange is higher there than in UK.

You normally get a lot of hassle from the shop keepers and taxi drivers but take it with a pinch of salt. Say no thanks and keep walking. Dont fall into the trap of come into my shop I have a present for you / sign my book.

Avoid alcohol in the sun as you will be ill. It is high 30's at mo so plenty sun cream and drink loads of bottled water - dont drink tap water.

Local spirits are a bit naff but you get used to them and known brands such as Bells and Smirnoff are expensive. If you smoke dont buy off street vendors as they are normally fake - I get mine from Metro supermarket L n M red and white pacl for 4.75le a pack which is about 55p.

Shop around for trips and the reps prices will be alot higher.

Plugs are 2 pin european ones.

Most banks only exchange currency in the evenings. There are lots of cash machines where you can put in sterling for le but not as good rate as banks.
For snorkelling try a trip up to El Fanar as the snorkelling there is fab and it is only about 10 min drive from your hotel. Old Market is cheaper for shopping. If you are making calls to anyone in Egypt then get an Egyptian sim for 25le as calls and texts are alot cheaper but make sue your phone is unlocked.Hope this helps.

You're welcome - BTW tell her not to pack high heels as she wont wear them! Maybe one pair as there is alot of walking and flip flops are best for days and eves.

Hi Mark and welcome to HT!

Glad you are finding the site useful for your upcoming holiday.

Can I just ask that you don't post in phone style text, eg 2nyt instead of tonight, etc? Some of our visually impaired members use Screen Readers that do not recognise this type of text.

Thanks.

I noticed 'Nana26' mentioned that there are lots of ATM machines. If you are planning on using them let your bank know first -I forgot to tell mine once, made one withdrawal as normal then further transactions were barred. Fortunately I had other cards and cash with me but it could have been a major problem if not!

thankyou! and yes sorry about the text language, just wanted to type it all before i forgot! haha.

thanks, i'll tell her about the heels and I will ring my bank later.

Also, my girlfriend smokes menthol cigarettes, is there such thing over there or should she take her own?

thanks.

Mark.

Hi - I was referring to using the machines to put in sterling to change to le. Most banks will charge to use your cards abraod. Natwest put a stop on them so you can only use them once and then you have to call the number on the card to get it unblocked. It makes no difference with Natwest if you tell them you are going to Egypt as they will still block it. Last time cost me £24 to call them to unblock it.

Hi Nana, just read your post again - you couldn't have been any clearer about the sort of machine you meant - it must be my age :duh .

Regarding ATMs I've had no problem using my Barclays debit card more than once when I've informed them I'm going (this can be done online) but it can be an expensive way to obtain money as there is always a transaction charge.

Good to see the exchange rate creeping up again - it was only about 7.2 in Hurghada in March.

Hi Caro - lol no worries - we are all getting older!

My son has a Nationwide card and Im pretty sure they dont have any charges. Be really careful as well as there is alot of card fraud out there at the moment.

How do i do it?

There doesnt seem to be an "add hotel" button or link, only just to add reviews to other hotels already reviewed.

Thanks

Hi Mark

I have added the hotel here - you should now be able to add your review.
