I know times are very hard but landlords are not charities, you take their property on what they think you have made an informed judgement, because tenants get that wrong it is not their fault nor are they responsible for the world cash situation, Sorry for my opinion, but that is the way I see it. I am sorry for those who get it wrong because at least they have had the bottle to have a go.

You want to try to get some money out of some landlords,they can have some very unfair tenancy agreements that a good solicitor needs to check.

The purpose of this thread was to explain to several people what had happened to the bar.

It was a very abridged version, and I take great exception to you suggesting a) that we failed b) that the Landlord is in the right c) that we were in the wrong and d) that we didn't spend enough money.

I explained as much as most people needed to know, but since you seem such a pedant, wanting to take sides where taking sides in un-necessary then I will explain

1) The landlord gave me a verbal assurance the bar would be open by May
2) The landlord could not in any case charge rent for a bar that is not suited for purpose - ie no water and no electric.
3) The lack of licence, and supply of water was due to the landlord having failed to renew his "Owners licence" which at the time of writing has still not been granted. This had expired 5 years ago, and he "forgot"
4) Both owners were fined by the local authority for failing to get the necessary permission to build the adjoining wall in the first place - this caused a further delay.

I could go on, but I won't bother.

Now go and do one.

Sorry to hear about the bar Adam. Am sure both the bar and yourselves will be sorely missed by the regulars to Magaluf. I know my friends and I had a brilliant night

Adam,i`m really sorry to hear of the problems you`ve had with your very popular bar,i was in palma nova last summer and intended coming into Goodfellows on the strength of some of the posts i`d read on this site but i couldn`t find you! I am back in palma nova this summer and fully intended on finding you this year but it sounds like thats not going to be possible now,is that it for you now or are you looking to open up another bar elsewhere,tony

I Agree with you Adam, you have no need to explain yourself. I for one are not here to judge people all I can judge upon is what a super couple you both are and Magaluf will be one great bar down and you will be sadly missed by lots of people.
All the best to all your family in whatever direction you life now goes, but i think I can speak for most of the people who had the honour to meet you and you family you went alongway in making peoples hard earned holidays that much more enjoyable.
