Hi, can anyone tell me about Mazikoy on the Gulf of Gokova south east of Bodrum?Has anyone been, how easy is it to drive there, best route, and is the beach really as idyllic as I've heard?Any info gratefully accepted.
Neil.
Mazikoy is a lovely place to visit. We did the drive over from Bodrum last September - it's hilly, up and down, some narrow roads, you go through some really old villages, it's great. We left Bodrum, headed for the airport, turned off to the right towards Mumcular and found it from there - we didn't actually set off intending to visit Mazikoy, just stumbled upon it but it was worth it. Out Turkish friends were amazed when we said we'd been there. We then drove to Oren and Cokertme, making it a circular route back to Bodrum - a great day out.
We bought a road map in Gumbet when we were there - it's not brilliant but better than nothing.

Thanks for that Jakki, you would obviously recommend the trip so.How long did it take you from Bodrum to Mazikoy? There doesnt appear to be a coastal route along the Gulf of Gokova, the road seems to run out after a bit on both maps I've seen. Also what is Mazikoy beach itself like?Would it be very busy? The idea of a quieter unspoilt beach with no sunbeds or hordes of people appeals.Anywhere else you would recommend to fit the bill?
Where would you suggest on the Bodrum peninsula itself too?We like the sound of Gumusluk and Yalikavak.
We DO intend spending some time in Bodrum itself of course and as such can you give me some info on car parks (coming in from the airport road),good walks, nice restaurants where we could have an early dinner before driving back to Altinkum?Have 2 young kids with us.
Ta!
