We had a great time!
Loved Singapore even if beer was ridiculously expensive-Swissotel Merchant Court in a great location not sure its worth the money tho.
The zoo and night safari were amazing, we enjoyed the Singapore Flyer as well, and loved the Asian Civilisations Museum as well ( very good value). Bugis Street market was a blast as was China town, and our enforced stop over on the way back meant we explored Geyland and Katong as well as he East Coast park- well worth getting off the beaten track to explore somewhere else. River festival a bit of a damp squib tho to be honest.
The airport is amazing- koi ponds, butterfly garden, free ps2 and so on, really great although food still usual airport prices.
Change of pace into Hoi An- much quieter and much hotter as well (39 most days plus the humidity). Great little hotel (Cua Dai Hotel) they really looked after us well, great town with some fantastic restaurants- Morning glory, Cargo Club, Blue Dragon and so many more without proper names as well. My Son well worth the trip- even my OH who calls it all rubble (inc Ephesus) enjoyed it. Great hiring a push bike and getting lost in the little villages surrounding Hoi An.
Tip- if you're flying out of Danang- they only open International departures 2 hours before the first flight goes (ours was at 10.20 so we got there early and had to wait outside in the sun til the doors opened at 8.20 (on the dot!).
great to hear you enjoyed it all I did notice that the Swissotel seemed to have rocketed up in price. Pity as we enjoyed the Club floor for a lot less than the standard rooms now.
We had an enforced stop on the way back due to schedule changes and stayed out of the city- although we didn't pay for it it would have cost over £80 a night room only and soooo not worth it!
Vietnam much better value for accommodation
liked your report, mmmmm you've got me thinking about Hoi An now, it is somewhere I have been looking at for a few years, maybe next year
Your post got me looking at my old photos of Katong as I used to live there. Mind you that was a while ago, the East Coast Park area was the sea .
