How about the Castles (Chateaux) of Amboise, Chennenceaux (sp!), Angers, and Dissay amongst others. Then there's the Black Horses of Saumur (Le Cadre Noir) and their dressage displays, vineyards and tastings from Tours and Saumur and loads of smaller vineyards, all specialising in white wines and sparkling wines (Crémant). And there's the town of Orleans! There's so much, and you don't say where you are starting from or ending!!
I suggest that you type into your computer search 'Offices du Tourisme du Pays de la Loire' and this should give you a starting point. Most sites will be in English or will be in simple French. For further info, just type in the names of places/sites/towns that interest you and watch the info appear!!
Hi Nikki, I can recommend a picnic by the river, the troglodytes (prehistoric homes) at Saumur, Chenonceau Chateau (the most famous) and the Royal Château at Chambord (the largest) plus ZooParc de Beauval at St. Aignan, which has been voted one of the top 15 zoos in the world! Plus, you must make plenty of time to try the food and Muscadet wine! 3 days isn't a lot of time to fit it all in!
some places to visit:
Le Moulin du Port, Saint-Georges-sur-Cher, Loire Valley
Troglodyte village (Rochemenier), Loire Valley, Centre
Chateau de Chambord, Chambord, Loire Valley
Chateau de Chenonceau, Chenonceaux, Loire Valley
Chateau de Cheverny
thanks I'll write them all down
