Hi Liana,
I am like you except that i have actually booked the Caribbean cruise (The Caribbean adventurer) for 9th January 2010.
I have read some reviews in the Cruise reviews above, some were good and some poor.
I was speaking to a colleague at work recently and he said that most of the people who don't like cruise ships such as Sea Princess are people who have previously done "formal" cruises on ships such as QE2 and QM2 etc.
Sea Princess is not formal (i.e dinner jackets and ties etc)
He says i would really like this cruise so i have booked. He reckons the drinks are about the equivalent of pub prices in the UK. I'm trying to get a guide from the websites so i'll let you know if i find anything!

Hi
Although Princess is not as formal as P & O or Cunard you will still need formal wear if you want to dine in main dining room on formal nights. I have cruised with them several times and guests do make the effort on these nights with ladies wearing cocktail dresses and men either a dinner jacket on dark suit and tie.
If you don't want to do this you can always eat in the Horizon court on formal nights
If you are worried about luggage allowance dinner suits can be hired through princess and will be placed in your cabin before you board.
Hope this helps

We sailed on the Sea Princess 14th-28th March and had a wonderful time. The only downside was the price of the drinks. They only prices that I really remember were Fosters 6.75$ Cheapest bottle of wine 26$. All drinks carry a 15% surcharge. You can buy beer and wine in all the ports for drinking in your cabin. Have a great time.
Sea princess is a great ship, having spent two weeks in the Caribbean on her 08/09 we re-booked in January for this year, sail on Boxing day from barbados, there are three formal nights, we always book second sitting fixed dining on table for six, have always had great table mates with this arrangement, waiters are brilliant in either restaurants and lovely food too, drinks and wine reasonable, certainly no more than you'd pay at home.
Off ship, taxis & mini buses around six dollars each to local beaches etc, a brilliant holiday, Rob & Brenda

I've just come back from 2 weeks on the Greek island of Skopelos. When comparing the current Dollar/Pound exchange rate to the Pound and Euro the prices seem to be pretty similar!
My dearest beer in Skopelos was 5 euros for a 330ml bottle of Amstel! Yes i know there were places cheaper but now that i have had a chance to compare i am not going to go filled with dread!
Thanks for all of your comments.
