I am like you except that i have actually booked the Caribbean cruise (The Caribbean adventurer) for 9th January 2010.
I have read some reviews in the Cruise reviews above, some were good and some poor.
I was speaking to a colleague at work recently and he said that most of the people who don't like cruise ships such as Sea Princess are people who have previously done "formal" cruises on ships such as QE2 and QM2 etc.
Sea Princess is not formal (i.e dinner jackets and ties etc)
He says i would really like this cruise so i have booked. He reckons the drinks are about the equivalent of pub prices in the UK. I'm trying to get a guide from the websites so i'll let you know if i find anything!
John
Thanks John im wanting the same one you have booked but for Marcj 2011 so some time yet however ive never been on a cruise so trying to find out as much as possible. Will you let me know what you find out. Ive found this if it helps you.
Although Princess is not as formal as P & O or Cunard you will still need formal wear if you want to dine in main dining room on formal nights. I have cruised with them several times and guests do make the effort on these nights with ladies wearing cocktail dresses and men either a dinner jacket on dark suit and tie.
If you don't want to do this you can always eat in the Horizon court on formal nights
If you are worried about luggage allowance dinner suits can be hired through princess and will be placed in your cabin before you board.
Hope this helps
We sailed on the Sea Princess 14th-28th March and had a wonderful time. The only downside was the price of the drinks. They only prices that I really remember were Fosters 6.75$ Cheapest bottle of wine 26$. All drinks carry a 15% surcharge. You can buy beer and wine in all the ports for drinking in your cabin. Have a great time.
Off ship, taxis & mini buses around six dollars each to local beaches etc, a brilliant holiday, Rob & Brenda
My dearest beer in Skopelos was 5 euros for a 330ml bottle of Amstel! Yes i know there were places cheaper but now that i have had a chance to compare i am not going to go filled with dread!
Thanks for all of your comments.
John
