We are staying in Naples next Easter for 4 days for the sole purpose of seeing pompei. So i need an area of the town that is near enough to walk to the station. But safe enough to wander out to eat at night. I have been told that the area around the station is a no go area after dark. We are not nervous travellers at all.
Thanks x
The train you will take is the Circumvesuviana (destnation Sorrento) to Pompei Scavi station. There are two stations in Naples where you can catch this. We prefer to use the terminus station, Porta Nolana in corso Garibaldi. We find it more convenient and more relaxed - we can take our time to find the train and choose our seats. The central station/piazza Garibaldi is bigger and more crowded. There is further to walk to the platform and then a scramble when the train arrives.
