I think you should take a look at Almyrida in Crete, it's a lovely area with 2 safe shallow sandy blue flag beaches that don't get too crowded. and plenty of taverna's and shop's to choose from when you feel the need for refreshment's.

Have a look at Alykes or Tsilive on Zakynthos, Both have lovlely gently shelving beaches and are not to busy.

how busy resorts will be will depend on when you want to go one of the best beaches i know is in Laganas [the party capital of Zakynthos] however if you are planning on a holiday at either end of the season ant not peak times then we have found the beaches very quiet, you don't have to stay in the main area where all the party goer's stop but on the east of the village,

Parga is lovely and has some really nice beaches. You can also choose which ones to visit, and all very different.

San Stefanos NW on Corfu has a nice long shallow beach. Nice quiet resort, nice places to eat

Stoupa has a lovely safe beach with enough tavernas & not too busy.
Georgeopoulis in Crete likewise. Plenty on Skiathos also jsut keep away from Skiathos town if you don't like it too busy, that said it's not on the lines of party resorts.

Mounda beach on Kefalonia is beautiful, if a bit remote, but it`s still walkable from Skala, a nice small town/village nearby, also with a nice beach, but busier.

I cannot believe that anyone has mentioned SKIATHOS....the best range of beaches anywhere in Greece. You could have a 2 week holiday and never go to the same beach twice. All our safe on the southern side....our favourite is Maratha near Koukounaries, Koukounaries itself is too crowded for us.

All gently shelving, calm and safe...our children loved it. We have been to many different Islands and have never found anywhere that matches Skiathos. There are also loads of pools that again in some parts of Greece are rare i.e. Stoupa.
