Would party popers be classed as explosives

as each contains a small amount of black powder [explosive] and an ignition sorce [somthing to set off the explosion] my personal opinion would be not to take them although usualy you pull the string to cause a spark to ignite the powder they can be set of by a hard blow elecrtical sparks and other means

ryanair will not allow them in hand luggage
, but do not specifically mention them in checked baggage.
so it would seem they may be ok in the hold, but i would check with whoever you are flying with.

They are classed as banned items, though technically it's up to the carrier whether they can be placed in the hold (very, small explosives). They are also banned because if they did go off the noise could cause panic and distress passengers.
Obviously not unique to the UK, so can easily be obtained abroad.

Totally agree.
I am not a party pooper but they can make people jump a bit when trying to have a quiet conversation.
I don't think they would be welcomed at any airport!
